          Woodrow Wilson Rawls was born in the Ozark Mountains near Scraper, Oklahoma in 1913, to parents Minzy Rawls and Winnie Hatfield Rawls.[1] His family's farm was located on his mother's Cherokee government allotment.[2] When Rawls was 16, the United States economy entered the Great Depression, prompting his family to leave their Oklahoma hom
